"Intimacies from someone you haven't heard from"
-A photobook based on the Notes App.-
BOOK DESCRIPTION
Everyone that has a modern phone has a "Notes app" embedded into it. You may know someone well, but do you know what they write about in their notes app? Lists? Confessionals? Unsent messages? Journal Entries? Drafts? Song requests for the DJ? You don't know- but now you can. Sofia Porzio created a Photobook complied of screenshots submitted by users of the Notes App from all around the world. With 7 chapters, ranging in topics from Family related notes app screenshots , to Bucket Lists, you'll finally get to see what other people have in their phone. The best part, every submission is anonymous , yet each page are as intimate as a portrait. This book is a project of capturing a side of people that isn't seen in the light, but rather from the dark of a black mirror, otherwise known as a phone. Let it be known, this is not a poetry book, but a photography book as every image is a screenshot. Screenshots are featured in the photo gallery of every phone, therefore making this a Photobook. Sofia Porzio is interested in pushing the narrative of what's considered "Photography" within the digital world we live in. This project started in January 2024, and took months to review the thousands of daily submissions sent to the email created for this project. Porzio asked her followers on her social media platforms to submit their personal screenshots , and from there, sequenced and curated a book of 56 pages. She created a physical book, printed by Mixam for her final in her major photography course in college. Sofia Porzio was inspired by social media, phone culture, and projects like the "#nyc" by Jeff Mermelstein, and The Unsent Project. To purchase, please contact Sofia Porzio in the contact tab
